It's the end of an era, my decision today To deactivate my facebook And click it away. There's so much good that comes from the pages But, for some strange reason I cannot explain, I don't need facebook or its stages!

Hello! I noticed it has been a while since my last post. I'm currently in an ALSDE workshop on our new Math Course of Study (MCOS). We are in the implementing stage and it was highly recommended that we join edweb.net so, I did! I'll post more later! Become CCRS literate! Love, Rebecca

Prayer Request

Dear Blog Family:

Please allow me to request prayer on behalf of my niece, Bonny Huddleston. She has a "mass" in her colol-rectal area. She has been to two doctors and they both have told her, pre-biopsy, that it is huge and needs to come out but will have to be shrunk with chemo-radiation prior to being removed. At first, she said no chemo-radiation. She had a mastectomy 9 years ago and had such a horrible experience with chemo-therapy and swore she'd never do that again. After some time to think with her heart and not her fear, she is going to the doctor tomorrow to find out her recommended course of action and a colonoscopy. Please pray for a miracle....they do still happen and the power of prayer is much bigger than any tumor! Thanks to you all!

Here and There

Sometimes I feel as though my life is like that in a Dr. Seuss book. Running here, running there, running, running everywhere! I think I'm busier as a grandmother than I was as a mother! But, you know, I wouldn't have it any other way! I'm thankful for the energy and not the lack of. I'm thankful I'm able to care for instead of receiving care. I'm thankful I'm able to drive instead of being driven. I'm thankful I'm able to visit instead of needing to be visited. When you look at the flip side of things, it makes you look at everything a bit differently. Thank you, Lord, for all your blessings!

My cup overflows, again!

There are so many things to be thankful for in my life. First and foremost, I am thankful for our risen Savior. I have been married for almost 29 years to a remarkable man. Out of those 29 years came two children, Brynn and Jack; a son-in-law, Jody, a daughter-in-law, Terri Leigh and Brynn and Jody's children, Will and Ella, our grandchildren. We also have 2 granddogs: Kelsey (Jack's) and Woody (Will's and Ella's). This past Saturday, April 3, we had them all at home, around the table, enjoying a meal together. We have been blessed with a wonderful, christian family. As I sat at the table and looked around at our children, their spouses and the grandchildren, I realized that we are the richest people I know. My cup runneth over!

Wow, What A Week!

I'm mentally drained, physically tired and miles to go before I sleep! Did I forget to tell you we have a field trip to the Montgomery Zoo on Friday? We had Career Week and American Education Week the same week. We had a retired teacher's luncheon at our school today. It made me think about the changes in Education over the past 80 years. The school where I teach just celebrated its 80th birthday with a huge celebration. There are people in our community who were a part of that first class. Once upon a time, there were little girls who grew up to be teachers. They taught with pride, dignity and, above all, discipline. Parents did whatever it took to help their children learn. That is what children do in school. They learn. The school is a learning environment. The school is not there to please everybody who thinks they should be pleased or catered to. Teaching begins in the home because a disciplined child exhibits self-control and shows respect because that is how he has been taught in his first school - his home. We still teach reading, math, language, spelling, health, history, science and P. E. We strive to teach the whole child. We will never please everyone 100% of the time but we can teach children 100% of the time.

Summer '09

Summertime officially begins
The very moment school ends.
For some, it takes a trip to the beach
To help bring summer into reach
Some people choose the mountain air
And spend their summer, camping there.
The place I find to be "most cool"
Is in my back yard, floating in my pool.
I don't have to travel a world away
To enjoy the sun of a summer's day.
Tons of memories for us to share
As we spent our days splashing back there,
In our back yard pool.
